Manipulation: Can you tell someone is lying?

The art of controlling or influencing by indirect, unfair, or deceptive means, especially to one’s own advantage – manipulation is condemned in Scripture. “Getting treasures by a lying tongue Is the fleeting fantasy of those who seek death.” – Proverbs 21:6 (NKJV) Satan was the first manipulator. He was an expert at deception. God says, “He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence.” – Psalm 101:7. People who are not honest with others about their motives are liars.  “Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.” – Ephesians 4:25 (NKJV)

“Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, And whoever spreads slander is a fool. In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little. The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom.”

Proverbs 10:18-21 (NKJV)

Christians do good for others (James 4:17). We do not ridicule others (Isaiah 57:4). Rather, we are told to encourage one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11). It is irrational to think we can manipulate others while being an encouragement to them at the same time. Deception and edification cannot coexist. Are we counselors of true of selfish sinners?

“He who speaks truth declares righteousness, But a false witness, deceit. There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health. The truthful lip shall be established forever, But a lying tongue is but for a moment. Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, But counselors of peace have joy.” –

Proverbs 12:17-20 (NKJV)

Peacemakers are what God desires. Practicing deception and falsehood are from a sin-sick heart. Jesus says, “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.” – Matthew 15:18-19 (NKJV)

All evil originates in the heart, the core of a person’s humanity. King Sau attempted to manipulate David and while fleeing from Saul, David wrote.

For they do not speak peace, But they devise deceitful matters Against the quiet ones in the land. They also opened their mouth wide against me, And said, “Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen it.” This You have seen, O LORD; Do not keep silence. O Lord, do not be far from me. Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication, To my cause, my God and my Lord.

Psalm 35:20-23 (NKJV)

Tips to tell is someone is trying to manipulate you with their lies.

  1. Their motives seem self-serving.
  2. They try to get you to something out of Christian character
  3. They ridicule others
  4. They have difficulty controlling their speaking habits.
  5. Their deception does not lead to the good of others.

Manipulating types of people are consistently thinking of a plan to deceive the innocent. We must guard our hearts (Proverbs 4:23). God calls all such people to turn from their demonic attitudes. Meanwhile, we will be patient. We choose to have clear conscience. As Paul said, “This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.”- Acts 24:16 (NKJV) As you and I grow into maturity we must grow into maturity (1 Corinthians 13:11).

Now let me tell you in all honesty. When I discover that I have been duped into thinking or doing by someone it gets me terribly angry. I feel just in a righteous anger. However, I must also be careful not to fall into temptation to say unkind things to my offender. Colossians 3:13-15 teaches me how to react to the one who has manipulated me.

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”

Colossians 3:12-15 (NKJV)

God does not want evil return for evil. Christianity is not an eye-for-an-eye way of life. Your ministry must be one of honesty and integrity as you teach the gospel in love. Read 1 Thessalonians 2:3-8. After reading the Scriptures, it seems contrary to the nature of any child of God to practice the art of controlling or influencing by indirect, unfair, or deceptive means, especially to one’s own advantage. Love does not seek its own. (1 Corinthians 13:4). Nevertheless,

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”  Galatians 6:7 (NKJV)

Learning to Love. Is the Bible Way the Best?

Love is a profoundly tender, passionate affection, one has for another person, says Dictionary.com. Yet, friends and coworkers might be saying they love their money, possessions or power. The world typically is selfish and it’s lusts are often mistaken for love. Such is not true biblical love.

Since God is love and His word is truth, it’s reasonable to say the Bible is a lesson on how to love. That’s something the world does not consistently understand. Loving God, God’s way is the best life of all. It’s so important to have faith in God’s instructions on how to live right and practice wholesomeness.

The universal law is to love God first and our neighbor second (Exodus 20 and Matthew 22:36-40).

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.” (ASV)

The Christian believes the Bible is the words of God. The word of God given to apostles and prophets to produces a divinely inspired Scriptures, the Bible. (2 Peter 1:20-21).

“Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ASV) Every thing we need for life and godly living is in the Bible (2 Peter 1:3).

The Christian’s faith comes from the system of faith. Father Gods’ system of faith is the law of Christ as contained in prophecy of the Old Testament and realized in the New Testament. The Bible’s old law has been nailed to the cross (Colossians 2:14). Serving as something of a tutor or school-master bringing us to Christ. The law is now abolished (Ephesians 2:15). We are not bound to keep the law of Moses, except where universal moral laws are.

Faith to believe God. Hope for the future eternal homeland. Love from a purified spirit. All these are acquired from Bible study. Learning to love, God’s way, is a choice.

You’re Not Alone! God’s cure for inconsiderate people.

By Donny Weimar

By Donny Weimar

The truth of the matter is I can be inconsiderate of others. People operate on emotions often. I have found that choosing to be rational and prayerful helps me to be more considerate of those around me. It’s corrupt thinking that erupts in unkind words and actions. “What comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander,” said Jesus in Matthew 15:18-19 (ESV). I haven’t done those sins listed here; I do know Christians who have. Still, I am obligated to change my thinking before the inconsiderate speech roles off my tongue.

An inconsiderate person is sinning because such is not the nature of love. In fact, rudeness is explicitly the opposite of love according to 1 Corinthians 13:5 in the English Standard Version. Corrupt speech and behavior must be modified if we are to love our neighbor as our self. Of speech, James wrote in his epistle, “But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so” – James 3:8-10 (NKJV). Since nobody can tame their own tongue, we infer dependence upon God to help us. Don’t ask me how He does it. I know that when I pray and think with a rational mind, I find myself more spiritually equipped to put the fire out of my mouth.

What might be more inconsiderate for me is sometimes my attitude and behavior go awry. “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another” wrote apostle Paul in Romans 12:9-10 (NKJV). Giving preference to my neighbor prevents the sin of hypocrisy.

The bottom line is by choosing love every time we are with others is always the better path. We know Jesus was never inconsiderate and neither are we to be. As I have confessed my sin, I pray that you dear reader will do the same if a rude and unkind spirit come from your heart. God can tame your tongue too. He can help you through a biblical and prayerful education to train yourself unto a godly disposition.

Evolutionist have you concerned for your kids? This is worse – Theistic Evolution.

By Donny Weimar

This is the teaching that theology and evolution can be integrated into a harmonized belief both in creationism and naturalism. Theistic comes from the Greek word theos, meaning God. Thus, when one claims to be a theistic evolutionist, he is saying he both believes in God and evolution at the same time. To this theorist, organic evolution is the method God used to create the universe and everything therein. Where it comes to the origins of our universe and the life in it, these two models inherently contradict.

The creation model states the universe and the solar system were suddenly created. The evolution model says the universe and the solar system emerged from non-life by naturalistic processes.  Creationists believe life was suddenly created. Evolutionists believe life emerged from non-life by naturalistic processes. Christians who are confident in their faith understand all present living kinds of animals and plants have remained fixed since creation, and genetic variation in originally created kinds has occurred only within narrow limits. Contrary to the Christian faith, evolutionists say all present kinds emerged from simpler early kinds, so that single-celled organisms evolved into invertebrates, then vertebrates, then amphibians, then reptiles, then mammals, then primates, including man.

Creationism says mutation and natural selection are insufficient to have brought about any emergence of present living kinds from a simple primordial organism. According to evolutionists believe mutation and natural selection have brought about the emergence of present complex kinds from a single primordial organism. The Christian avers man and apes have a separate ancestry but the religion of evolution proclaims man and apes emerged from a common ancestor.

Faithful Christians hold to catastrophism, believing the Earth’s geologic features appear to have been fashioned largely by rapid, catastrophic processes that affected the Earth on a global and regional scale. The uniformitarian position held by evolutionists is the Earth’s geologic features were fashioned largely by slow, gradual processes, with infrequent catastrophic events restricted to a local scale. The inception of the Earth and of living kinds may have been relatively recent, according the theist. The evolutionist claims the inception of the earth and then of life must have occurred several billion years ago.

When pseudo-science and the Bible disagree, the Bible is consistently correct. It is only when we have misinterpretation of either the Bible or science that the truth is withheld. Brothers and sisters, theology and evolutionary naturalism cannot be reconciled into a Theistic Evolutionary model That simply is not viable for the faithful Christian.  Beware of what your teachers believe and are telling your kids.
