Faith, Toilet Paper and Overcoming Corona Worry

Jesus says not to worry (Matthew 6:25). The first thing he listed in the not to worry about is “your life.” You know what? The next Corona Victim might be you. That doesn’t have to bother us. I will admit that it makes me a little anxious to be in public but I don’t enjoy crowds anyways. The best remedy for me is to pray asking for peace and comfort from God. We rest and relax in the Father’s arms knowing He cares.

Bear one another’s burdens as best we can (Galatians 6:2).

I am not the best at being hospitable but I want to improve. Bearing burdens during the shelter in place order might mean shopping on behalf of the elderly or others at high risk. It could entail cutting a dead tree down when a brother is unable to do so himself. Or, perhaps a phone call or text to say you care.

Be responsible to bear your own load (Galatians 6:5).

Before we can be of any genuine help to our neighbors, we are going to clean out the plank in our lives (Matthew 7). Times of crisis call for bigger faith. Resist the temptation to hoard and be selfish. I still can’t find a roll of toilet paper at Wal-Mart. A man was walking down the street with a trash bag full of all the rolls as I drove by. The endurance and patience of the saints will be rewarded with the crown of life.

This COVID-19 too shall pass.

It was last April 20, that I wrote the preceding words. It’s almost as if I was writing to myself. As of November 2, I have tested positive for the Corona virus. When we have a contagious illness we have a new stewardship. Responsibility to make sure we don’t spread the condition to others. Pride can easily cause us to slip and go into the presence of others. The lesson applies at this juncture. Namely, trust the Lord and cast all your anxieties on Him. Bear the burden of quarantine so others aren’t exposed. Be responsible for your health by eating well and taking any medication prescribed by your doctor. Remember always, the Lord hath promised “I am with you always.”

Who needs another role of TP?

This too shall pass!
